Sending A Targeted Message
The goal of every email marketing campaign is to reach those with an interest in what you have to say. Email marketing campaigns, conducted on a consistent basis, build an identity with your customer base so they willing review your ideas each time you send them a new message.
Sending the same message to ever person on your list works well when your story has broad appeal. There are times, though, that sending a more tailored, targeted message will get you a better response and the quality of the inquiry will be higher.
Segmenting Your Email Database
In order to send targeted messages you must do some level of segmentation of your email database. This does not have to be overly complex. It can be as easy as designating someone as a customer or a prospect; indicating what industry they work in; or what job position they hold. Creating different categories within your email list allow you to make special offers, discuss products geared to a specific application, or tailor a message to the interests of a particular group.
Right On Target
Most email database software programs allow you to “code” each name and then create email lists that are sorted by different codes. This capability, when used with a message geared directly to that audience, will increase the effectiveness of the email campaign and those receiving your message will feel like it is right on target.
